Your Promise - based on four Foundation Standards

"As the foundation to my Life & Standards® Promise, from this day forward, I promise to always endeavour to discipline myself by embracing the following standards, online, via electronic communication, across all social media, and in the physical real world":

1. [Decorum] is behaviour which is generally considered to be correct, polite, and respectable.

2. [Empathy] is the ability to share another person’s feelings and emotions as if they were your own.  

3. [Etiquette] in simpler words is defined as good behaviour which distinguishes human beings from animals. It is really important for human beings to behave in an appropriate way. Etiquette refers to behaving in a socially responsible way. Etiquette enables the individual to earn respect and appreciation in society. Etiquette instils a feeling of trust and loyalty in individuals. One becomes more responsible and mature. Etiquette helps individuals to value relationships.

4. [Integrity] is the practice of being honest and showing a consistent and uncompromising adherence to strong moral and ethical principles and values. 

Rejected Action & Activity Elements

As the primary rejected action and activity element of my Life & Standards® Promise, from this day forward, I promise to reject, and will not knowingly or deliberately, participate in, endorse, or encourage any form of [harm of any child or young person], online, via electronic communication, across any social media platform, or in the physical real world.

Definition:  Harm means the ill-treatment or the impairment of health or development of a child or young person, including, for example, impairment suffered from seeing or hearing the ill-treatment of another human being, with development meaning the physical, intellectual, emotional, social, or behavioural development of a child or young person; and health meaning the physical or mental health of a child or young person. We use the term 'children' to refer to younger children who do not have the maturity and understanding to make important decisions for themselves. We use the term 'young people' to refer to older or more experienced children who are more likely to be able to make these decisions for themselves.

As the additional rejected action and activity elements of my Life & Standards® Promise, from this day forward, I promise to reject, and will not knowingly or deliberately, participate in, endorse, or encourage any form of the following, against any person, online, via electronic communication, across any social media platform, or in the physical real world: 

[unprovoked physical violence] 

Definition:  If a person makes an unprovoked physical attack, they attack someone who has not tried to harm them in any way. Violence is behaviour which is intended to hurt, injure, or kill people.

[fraud]

Definition: Fraud, refers to the crime of obtaining money or property by deceiving people, fraud is a type of dishonesty calculated to obtain advantage, generally financial advantage, by some wrongful means, fraud is deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage.   

[malicious trolling]

Definition: Trolling is a form of cyber aggression. It involves the sending of malicious, abusive, or derogatory  messages by one user (a 'troll') to another user online with the intention of upsetting or harassing them or damaging their reputation.

[stalking]

Definition: Stalking and harassment is when someone repeatedly behaves in a way that makes a person feel scared, distressed, or threatened. Cyberstalking is the use of the Internet or other electronic means to stalk or harass an individual, group, or organization. It may include false accusations, defamation, slander, and libel. It may also include monitoring, identity theft, threats, vandalism, solicitation for sex, doxing, or blackmail.

[bullying]

Definition: Bullying is when someone harasses, threatens, embarrasses, or targets another person, and/or uses technology to do the same online.

[harassment]

Definition: Online harassment can be defined as the use of information and communication technologies by an individual or group to repeatedly cause harm to another person. This may involve threats, embarrassment, or humiliation in an online setting.

[racism]

Definition: Racism is when a person is treated worse, excluded, disadvantaged, harassed, bullied, humiliated, or degraded because of their race or ethnicity.

[sexism]

Definition: Sexism is prejudice or discrimination based on one's sex or gender. Sexism can affect anyone, but it primarily affects women and girls.

[misogyny]

Definition: Misogyny is hatred of, contempt for, or prejudice against women. It is a form of sexism that is used to keep women at a lower social status than men.

[objectification]

Definition: Objectification is the act of treating a person, as an object or a thing. It is part of dehumanization, the act of disavowing the humanity of others.

[malicious falsehoods]

Definition: Malicious falsehood is when a lie is told by someone who knows the lie is false or knows it will do harm to the person.

[gaslighting]

Definition: Gaslighting is the psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time that causes the victim to question the validity of their own thoughts, perception of reality, or memories and typically leads to confusion, loss of confidence and self-esteem, uncertainty of one's emotional or mental stability, and a dependency on the perpetrator.

[revenge porn]

Definition:  Revenge porn is a type of digital abuse in which nude or sexually explicit photos, or videos are shared without the consent of those pictured.
